This is a 1997-2001 Jeep Wrangler TJ original OEM tub, finished in black, and it is absolutely gorgeous on the top side. If you're judging this tub from above, it looks like an A-plus.
The floors are clean. The sides and corners are excellent. Rockers, lower rockers, and skirting are all in great shape. Firewall and cowl are straight and clean. No rot issues up top, no ugly patches, and no hacked-up areas. It's a very nice, honest TJ body in all the places people usually care about.
This tub includes a really nice, matching black OEM tailgate. If a buyer doesn't need the tailgate, we're happy to remove it and adjust the price slightly. That said, it's being included at well below what we normally sell tailgates for on their own, so it's a good value to keep it with the tub.
Where this becomes a Grade B tub is on the underside - and I show this clearly in the video, just like we do on all of our Tough Ads.
The middle torque pocket on both sides needs repair:
- One side has a broken bolt that will need to be repaired
- The other side has clean threads and bolt, but the pocket itself is collapsed
Even though the failure is different on each side, both torque pockets need attention. You would not want to bolt this tub back down as-is. If left unaddressed, the issue will continue to spread, so it should be repaired properly before installation.
It's honestly unfortunate, because if it weren't for the middle torque pockets, this would be an A-plus tub. It really is a beautiful TJ body overall and a great option for someone willing to do the repair once and do it right.
